Introducing a new couples’ therapeutic group facilitated by Dan Drake, MFT, CSAT Candidate (4) and Dorit Reichental, MFT Intern, for recovering sexual addicts and their partners (1 year minimum sexual sobriety). This group will meet bi-monthly beginning May 5, 2012. Each session will focus on enhancing healthy communication, trust, safety, and connection between spouses and partners. Sexual addiction will be explored from a relational trauma perspective. Participants will learn to use the Imago Dialogue, which is a communication tool designed to help couples heal from attachment injuries. The group environment will further enable couples to learn how to build a secure relationship base in order to recover from the traumatic effects of sexual addiction. Couples will benefit from the group dynamic as they share personal experiences, offer one another constructive feedback, and discover new ways to deepen their connections. For more information please call Dan Drake at (310) 415-5732 or email him at DanDrakeMFT@gmail.com.

4-Day Family of Origin Trauma Intensives

Unresolved childhood trauma is frequently at the root of addiction, depression, anxiety, and other disorders. This 4-day intensive will help you understand your family role, your relationships with major caregivers and how these relational dynamics are affecting your current life. You will learn how to deal with emotions connected to childhood events and begin the process of resolving past hurts that keep you stuck in unproductive and destructive patterns.
The framework and treatment model for the workshop is based on Pia Mellody's Post Induction Therapy model, offered under the name Survivors I at The Meadows.

I conduct two therapy groups for sex addicts each week in Rockville, Maryland. These groups are based on Dr. Carnes' "Facing the Shadow" workbook.
The Tuesday group meets from 12 to 1:30 pm EST and the Thursday group meets from 7:00 to 8:30 pm EST. Group size is limited to allow for maximum participation.
Prior to joining a group, individuals complete the "SDI" online assessment and have at least two individual sessions to discuss the results of the SDI and to determine one's suitability for group.
Participants find their group participation supportive, engaging, fun and an essential element of their recovery programs.
